DESCRIPTION
Each morning this week we have awakened to a heavy fog and heavy dew. On some mornings we could barely see to the end of our lane, when looking for our kids’ bus. Conflict many times creates a fog like this. We may find ourselves unsure of what the outcome will be. We may find ourselves wounded, acting inappropriately and insecure as to whether a relationship can really be mended.
We begin a new series this week, A Coward’s guide to Conflict. Most of us hate conflict and would want to run from it versus engage it. Even for those of us who are more open to conflict may find ourselves in situations that are overwhelming and possibly even hopeless. We may find ourselves in that running mode. I have been reflecting on the characters in The Wizard of Oz and have been connecting them to conflict. Some of us respond like the Wicked Witch of the West and are threatening and create fear. Some respond like the Scarecrow and wishing we could find our brain and think. Some respond like the Tin Man and sure do need a heart. Some of us respond to conflict like the cowardly lion and need courage. Some of respond like the Wizard and work to magically control or manipulate.
Conflict is important to our maturity and to our walk with Jesus Christ. Questions of importance are these and more. What are the steps or the solutions to navigate conflict? What is our goal in conflict? Who is our enemy in conflict? Is it the one we are in conflict with? This series will empower you to have a different perspective of conflict and will lead you to know your desired outcome and how to reach it.
