DESCRIPTION

Gen 18:19 (NIV) For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

The word CHOSEN, what does it mean:

  • (Webster)  1. Selected from a number; picked out; taken in preference; elected; predestinated; designated to office. 2. Select; distinguished by preference; eminent.

  • (Gesenius) to get to know, to discover, whether by seeing  or by hearing,  to become acquainted with any one Often put by a euphemism for sexual  intercourse.—(a) of a man; to know a woman, i.e. to lie with her, Gen. 4:17 (That is intimate)

(Rotherham) For I have become his intimate friend, To the end that he may command his sons and his house after him, so shall they keep the way of Yahweh, by doing righteousness and justice. To the end that Yahweh may bring in for Abraham, what he hath spoken concerning him.

(Gen 18:19 MSG)  Yes, I've settled on him as the one to train his children and future family to observe GOD's way of life, live kindly and generously and fairly, so that GOD can complete in Abraham what he promised him."

(2Ti 2:15 ISV ) Do your best to present yourself to God as an approved worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of truth with precision.

(Heb 4:12 CEV)  What God has said isn't only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts. (13)  Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and we will have to tell him the truth.

(Eph 6:17 ESV) and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

(Mat 4:3 ESV)  And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." (Mat 4:4 ESV)  But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (5)  Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple (6)  and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "'He will command his angels concerning you,' and "'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'" (7)  Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'" (8)  Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. (9)  And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." (10)  Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"

 (11)  Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
