A PEOPLE AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART
In next week’s reading, we find that Samuel called David, “a man after God’s own heart”. We see that this certainly did not mean that David was sinless or perfect. However, several times when David had occasion to “help God out” by killing Saul, he refused to lay his hand on God’s anointed king. Even though Saul had lost God’s favor, David recognized and honored God’s anointing of Saul by the hand of Samuel. Perhaps that sensitivity to God’s anointing was what God saw in David when he was only a teenager. Is God still choosing to call those who are sensitive to His anointing?
I’m thrilled to hear reports of how lives are being changed and a renewed sensitivity to God’s Spirit is being seen as we read through the Bible together. My prayer for Crosswinds is that we can be called, “a people after God’s own heart”. As we read in I Samuel 16:13, may we see the Spirit of the Lord come upon us in power!
